| This project was conceived from the need to have an effective
communication link for the LGBT community in Northern Mexico, namely in the
state of Nuevo Leon, so the opportunities for cooperation might grow among all
social groups.
The need also stated the lack of a public space covering other social needs,
not limited by commercial interests. Therefore, this projects attempts to fill
such void by opening a new, plural space to air a diversity of ideas and
postures about our lives, thus allowing different segregated social groups to
express freely without censorship. This intent relies on a democratizing process
towards the right of expression and free thinking.
"Voces Metropolitanas", (Metropolitan Voices) was the name of the
original project for a web-based radio station, reaching most urban realities,
sexual and religious diversities, social situations, national and international
debates, minoritie's rights, sexual health, STI'S prevention and education,
etc., from a plural, inclusive perspective, and always allied to other NGOs,
both local as well as state's and national.
One of our main goals is to serve as a channel to air information about HIV
and AIDS, genre-related issues such as gender-based violence, vulnerable
population segments and HIV-endangered segments, while also bringing fresh
entertainment to our audiences. We have just introduced a new TV section for
such purpose.
Some programs, because of their nature, are not recommended for minors unless
given advice by an adult. Discretion is adviced in such cases.
